Blood alcohol content, what is it exactly?

The blood alcohol level expresses the concentration of alcohol in the blood or in the exhaled air. The evaluation of this concentration of alcohol in the body is expressed:

• either in g/L of blood, result obtained by blood analysis,

• or in mg/L of exhaled air, a measurement obtained using instruments such as breathalyzers.

There is a correlation between the alcohol content in the blood and in the exhaled air. A blood alcohol level of 0.5 g/L corresponds to 0.5 grams of alcohol per 1 liter of blood (1000 mL) or 0.25 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air.
In France, the maximum blood alcohol level authorized for a driver is 0.5 g per liter of blood, or 0.25 mg per liter of exhaled air.

This electronic pocket breathalyzer measures the alcohol level in the exhaled air and deduces your blood alcohol level to the nearest 0.1 g/L (detection range: 0.00 - 1.99 g/L )

It is therefore suitable for the 2 French legislative thresholds:

• "Young driver" fine: 0.10 mg/L of exhaled air

• Classic fine threshold: 0.25 mg/L of exhaled air

Even in the dark, the red LED backlighting of its display clearly indicates the result of your tests in g/L and % BAC and a beep alerts you of a threshold overrun.

For greater reliability, it is best to perform the test at least 45 minutes after you have had your last drink.

The breathalyser is supplied with 5 interchangeable mouthpieces.
